What Sets Our Practice Apart
Six qualities that consistently matter to clients navigating inheritance and estate matters in Thailand.
Singular Focus
Our practice handles inheritance and estate matters only. This is not a side offering within a general legal firm — it is the entirety of our work, which means our knowledge and processes are shaped specifically around what you need.
Published, Fixed Fees
Our fees for each service are stated clearly before work begins. Clients know what the engagement costs before committing. Where scope expands beyond the standard, we discuss the addition openly and agree terms before proceeding.
Written Summaries Included
Every assessment concludes with a written summary of findings and guidance. You leave with a document, not just a conversation. This is standard — not an extra.
Experience With Foreign Heirs
We regularly advise non-Thai clients on their position under Thai inheritance law. Consultations are conducted in English, and we understand the practical considerations facing those based outside Thailand.
Measured Caseload
We deliberately limit the number of active matters the team carries. This keeps response times reasonable and ensures no client matter is deprioritised because of volume.
Sensitivity by Default
Estate work frequently follows bereavement or family difficulty. We approach every matter with awareness of what clients are managing personally — not only legally — and adapt our communication accordingly.
Depth of Professional Knowledge
Inheritance law in Thailand involves the Civil and Commercial Code, land law, foreign ownership restrictions, and court procedure — sometimes simultaneously. Our team has worked within this framework for over a decade and encounters the full range of situations that arise in practice.
Continuing professional development is a standing requirement for all members of the practice, ensuring the advice we give reflects current law and procedure.
Deep knowledge of Thai succession law
Current with Thai court procedures
Experience with both simple and contested estates
Registered with the Lawyers Council of Thailand
Annual CPD completed by all fee earners
Consultation in English as standard
Regular updates without prompting
Questions answered patiently and fully
Copies of key documents provided to clients
Named point of contact throughout
Client Communication
Clients have a named contact for their matter and receive regular updates without needing to chase. We set expectations clearly at the outset about how and when we will communicate, and we stick to it.
Questions are welcomed at any stage. There are no additional charges for asking a question or requesting a clarification — it is part of the service.
Transparent and Proportionate Fees
Each service carries a published fee. An Inheritance Rights Assessment is ฿4,600. Executor Support is ฿9,800. Estate Litigation Representation is ฿17,500. These figures are stated before any engagement begins and cover the standard scope of each service.
Where a matter requires more work than the standard scope, we explain what is involved and agree additional terms before proceeding. No surprises.
Fees agreed before work begins
No hidden charges within standard scope
Out-of-scope work discussed openly
Written fee engagement letter provided
Invoices itemised clearly
How We Compare
A Different Approach to Estate Law
Not every legal practice approaches inheritance work the same way. The table below shows how our approach differs from more generalised legal services.
| Feature | General Legal Firms | Ayutthaya Counsel |
|---|---|---|
| Inheritance law focus | One of many practice areas | Sole practice area |
| Published fixed fees | Hourly rates typical | Fixed per service |
| Written assessment summary | Varies / may be extra | Included as standard |
| English-language consultation | Not always available | Standard for all clients |
| Foreign heir experience | Variable | Regular part of practice |
| Measured caseload per lawyer | Often high volume | Deliberately limited |
Distinctive Features
What Only We Offer
The Written Summary Commitment
Every inheritance rights assessment concludes with a written document, produced for the client. This is not standard practice elsewhere — many firms provide only verbal advice. We believe clients deserve a record they can read, share with family, or return to later.
Estate Process Map
New clients receive a plain-English overview of the Thai estate administration process as it applies to their situation — a reference they can use as the matter progresses. Understanding where you are in a process reduces uncertainty and supports good decisions.
Coordinated Heir Communication
Where multiple heirs are involved in a single estate, we can provide structured communication to the group — reducing the need for individual heirs to relay information to one another and helping to keep matters moving without misunderstanding.
Pre-Engagement Consultation
Before any formal engagement begins, we discuss your situation and explain clearly whether and how we can assist. You are not committed to anything by making contact. This conversation is free of charge and free of pressure.
